Mr. Ilyas Daoud is Project Officer at the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC)
Mr. Ilyas Daoud is Project Officer at the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC). He currently manages ETSC’s Safe and Sober campaign amongst other European road safety projects such as PRAISE (Preventing Road Accidents and Injuries for the Safety of Employees - project addressing all safety aspects of driving 'at' work and driving 'to' work) or STARS (Students Acting to Reduce Speed). Prior to ETSC, Mr. Daoud worked as a policy and project officer for the International Union of Railways (UIC) dealing with standardization and safety. In 2009, he coordinated the first worldwide safety campaign on level crossing. International Level Crossing Awareness Day is now an annual event in more than 45 countries.
ETSC is a Brussels-based independent non-profit making organization gathering 45 organisations across Europe and dedicated to reducing the numbers of deaths and injuries in transport in Europe. Specifically, ETSC seeks to identify and promote effective measures on the basis of international scientific research and best practice in areas which offer the greatest potential for a reduction in transport crashes and casualties. It provides factual information in the form of scientific reports, fact sheets and newsletters in support of high safety standards in EU harmonisation, the take up of best practice and transport safety research. ETSC also organises several conferences yearly, including the European Transport Safety Lecture, Road Safety PIN Conference and the European Transport Safety Lunches. Founded in 1993, ETSC provides an impartial source of expert advice on transport safety matters to the European Commission, the European Parliament, and Member States.
