Elisabet Roca Bosch, director of the Research Institute in Sustainability Science and Technologies

On April 25th, Professor Elisabet Roca Bosch took office as director of the University Institute for Research in Sustainability Science and Technologies (ISST) of the UPC.

The professor and researcher Elisabet Roca Bosch is the new director of the University Institute for Research in Sustainability Science and Technologies (ISST) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC). She takes over from Professor Jordi Segalàs Coral, who has been at the head of the Institute since 2015, in two consecutive terms.

PhD in Environmental Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2008), Elisabet Roca is an associate professor at the Escola Tècnica Superior de Camins, Canals i Ports de Barcelona (ETSECCPB) and the Escola Politècnica Superior d’Edificació de Barcelona (EPSEB). Previously, she was secretary of the Department of Transport and Territory Infrastructures (2010-2014).

In the field of research, Roca is part of the group in Sustainability Science and Technologies (CITES), where she focuses her research activity on urban and territorial sustainability. In particular, she develops and applies social analysis tools to assess the socio-environmental impact of urbanism and mobility.

She has participated in several national and international research projects, such as project DIGital traNsport In and for socieTY (DIGNITY) , within the framework of the European Horizon 2020 program; the project Nature-Based Solutions for Water Management in the Peri-Urban space to adapt (NATWIP) She has directed several doctoral theses and has published about thirty articles indexed in reference scientific journals. 

She has also been a visiting professor at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.
